Output exceeded last year’s March results by 17.6%. The automotive industry accounted for 38.4% of total machinery industry output in March.
The majority of production consisted of passenger cars - 11,264 units, a 15% increase year-on-year. A total of 524 trucks were produced, marking 112.1% growth. Bus production declined by 19.5% to 136 units. In addition, 305 trailers and semi-trailers were manufactured, along with 60 units of specialised vehicles.
In total, over the first quarter of 2025, 33,176 vehicles were produced in Kazakhstan, with a combined value exceeding 442.4 billion tenge.
Anar Makasheva, President of the Kazakhstan Automobile Union (KAU), stated: “Current results reflect the growing confidence of domestic manufacturers that the market and consumers are increasingly choosing quality, safety, and price accessibility. At the same time, the automotive sector is investing not only in the development and modernisation of existing facilities, but also in launching new production capacities. Let me remind you that two modern plants are scheduled to open in 2025 — in Almaty and Kostanay. In addition, the production of auto components is actively developing, integrating our country into global supply chains.”
The head of the Kazakhstan Automobile Union also highlighted that the industry is entering a phase of major opportunity: it is important for Kazakhstan not to stop at vehicle production, but to build a resilient industrial ecosystem. This model is expected to create high-productivity jobs, foster export development, and contribute to national GDP growth.
According to KAU, over the first three months of 2025, 18,049 units were produced in Kostanay (Allur) (–13.1%), 12,943 units in Almaty (Hyundai Trans Kazakhstan, Hyundai Trans Almaty) (+29.1%), 620 units in Semey (SemAZ, Daewoo Bus Kazakhstan) (–42.1%), 376 units in the Karaganda region (QazTehna) (+12.2%), 263 units in Kokshetau (KAMAZ Engineering) (+4.8%), and 925 units by other manufacturers.
