SALES OF NEW CARS IN KAZAKHSTAN GREW BY ALMOST ONE-THIRD`

- The leaders of the top 5 in May were Hyundai, Kia, Chevrolet, Changan and Chery.
According to the data from Kazakhstan Automobile Union (KAU), 19,377 vehicles of all types were sold in May of this year. This figure includes 18,576 passenger cars and light commercial vehicles, as well as 801 trucks and buses. This result indicates a 51.4% increase in sales compared to the same period last year (12,796 units). During the first five months of 2025 (January-May), 85,467 vehicles were sold, indicating a 28.7% increase in sales compared to the same period last year (66,401 units).
Anar Makasheva, President of the Kazakhstan Automobile Union (KAU):
“May 2025 confirmed the resilience of the positive trend: dealers, together with banks, continue to join forces to make the purchase of new cars more accessible to a wide audience. Such initiatives have been met with a positive response from customers. In addition, large-scale marketing campaigns launched by automotive market participants have contributed to additional demand growth. The combination of these factors explains the significant sales growth of nearly one-third over the first five months of this year. Overall, this is a positive indicator for the national market. From January to May of this year, the average purchase price for a new car was 15.9 million tenge. Last year, the figure was slightly higher at 16.1 million tenge. We are also seeing sustained interest from Kazakhstan’s consumers in modern, technologically advanced models. Based on our current assessment, we expect this trend to continue throughout the year, and total sales volume may reach a new historic high by the end of 2025”
