NEW CAR SALES IN KAZAKHSTAN GREW BY 8.4% IN APRIL

In April 2026, 20,857 new vehicles, including commercial vehicles, were sold in Kazakhstan. This is 8.4% more than a year earlier. At the same time, over the first four months, the market remains almost at last year's level: 65,610 units versus 66,101 vehicles in January-April 2025 (-0.7%).
According to analysts of the Kazakhstan Automobile Union, April 2026 was one of the most active months since the beginning of the year. Growth was largely driven by locally produced models, as well as the continued expansion of new brands.
“Competition in the market is intensifying, official dealers are actively updating their model lineups, and the average transaction price is gradually declining. We are also seeing strong buyer interest in new brands and technologies. The share of Kazakhstan-made vehicles and models with alternative powertrains is growing especially noticeably,” said KAU President Anar MAKASHEVA.
Chevrolet led April with 5,501 vehicles sold, an increase of 101.9% year-on-year. Hyundai took second place with 2,656 units (-39.3%), while Kia rounded out the top three with 1,912 vehicles (-13.4%). Changan remains one of the market drivers. In April, the brand increased sales by 172.4% to 1,882 vehicles. The list continues with Haval (1,379 units; +31.7%), Chery (1,326 units; -7.5%), Jetour (1,108 units; -19%), Toyota (830 units; +11.6%), Geely (548 units; -47.9%) and Geely Galaxy (424 units).
Among the fastest-growing brands, BYD (421 units; +209.6%) and MG (130 units; +282.4%) stand out. Geely Galaxy and Li Auto, brands that recently entered the Kazakhstan market, continue to gain momentum.
There were changes in the Top 10 most popular models in April: Chevrolet Cobalt (5,319 units) took first place, Hyundai Tucson ranked second (853 units), and the Hyundai Mufasa crossover (794 units) rose to third position. Kia Sportage placed fourth (726 units), while Changan CS35 Max took fifth place (712 units). They were followed by Changan CS55 Plus (688 units), Haval Jolion (572 units), Haval M6 (506 units), Toyota Camry (429 units) and Chery Tiggo 2 Pro (428 units).
