AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTION IN FEBRUARY

According to the Bureau of National Statistics of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in February 2025, domestic enterprises produced 11,282 units of various types of wheeled vehicles, with a total value of 151.6 billion tenge — 17.4% more than in January, but 3.2% less than in February of the previous year.
In total, over the first two months of 2025, 20,888 vehicles were manufactured in Kazakhstan (–9.3% compared to the same period in 2024), worth more than 278.3 billion tenge. Passenger cars accounted for the majority of production — 19,285 units (–7.7%). A total of 673 trucks were produced (–39.3%), along with 297 buses (–36%). In addition, manufacturers produced 532 trailers and semi-trailers, and 101 units of other specialised vehicles. The automotive industry accounted for 40.5% of the total output in the machinery sector over the two-month period.
Anar Makasheva, President of the Kazakhstan Automobile Union (KAU), stated: "Today, the main trend in the development of Kazakhstan’s automotive industry is localisation. This goes beyond complex technological operations such as body welding and painting, which have already been mastered by domestic plants. It is equally important to actively integrate auto components manufactured in Kazakhstan. Industrial clusters for the production of parts and components are now being established in several regions of the country. This is the strategic path chosen for the Kazakhstan automotive industry. Localisation is critically important — it is in pursuit of new production and technologies that the government is ready to offer incentives and support measures. In return, however, there are clear commitments. For instance, by the end of 2025, local vehicle manufacturers must produce at least 30% of total output using the CKD method."
According to the Kazakhstan Automobile Union (KAU), from January to February 2025, 11,030 units were produced in Kostanay (Allur) (–13.4%). In Almaty (Hyundai Trans Kazakhstan, Hyundai Trans Almaty), 8,536 passenger and commercial vehicles were manufactured (+11.5%). In Semey (SemAZ, Daewoo Bus Kazakhstan), output reached 339 units (–62.6%). In the Karaganda region (QazTehna), 262 units were produced (+8.3%), while Kokshetau (KAMAZ Engineering) manufactured 132 commercial vehicles (–22.4%). Other producers accounted for 589 units.
