NEW CAR SALES IN KAZAKHSTAN UP 29.9% IN FEBRUARY

- Top 5 brands in February: Hyundai, Chevrolet, Kia, Jetour, Chery
According to the Kazakhstan Automobile Union (KAU), 15,208 passenger cars and light commercial vehicles were sold in February, along with 755 trucks and buses — 29.9% more than in February last year. Total sales for January–February amounted to 27,236, an increase of 15.7% compared to the same period in 2024.
Anar Makasheva, President of the Kazakhstan Automobile Union, noted: “This year, we didn’t see the usual winter slowdown in sales: February figures were 41.6% higher than in January and nearly a third higher than last year’s February. This shows that demand for new cars is rising, in part due to the need to renew the country’s vehicle fleet. With such a variety of models and brands at attractive prices, customers are actively choosing new vehicles. And this isn’t just deferred demand like after the pandemic. Several factors played a role: dealers offered attractive programmes, including their own preferential lending, the model lineup expanded, and new brands entered the Kazakh market. Dealers diversified their offers - and customers responded.”
At the top of the February Top 10 brands list is Hyundai (4,043; +44.8% compared to February 2024). Chevrolet ranks second with 2,080 units sold (+79.3%), followed by Kia in third with 1,805 (–1.6%). Jetour reached fourth place for the first time with 1,160 units (+113.2%), while Chery rounded out the top five with 1,038 units (–0.8%). The rest of the list includes: Jac (760; +47%), Geely (757; +78.1%), Haval (714; +8.3%), Toyota (690; +42.6%) and Changan (555; +12.6%).
In the February Top 10 models, the Chevrolet Cobalt returned to first place with 1,776 units, followed by the Hyundai Tucson with 1,734, and the Hyundai Elantra in third with 960.
