SALES OF NEW CARS IN AUGUST

- The top 5 car brands in March: August: Hyundai, Chevrolet, Kia, Changan and Toyota
According to the “Kazakhstan Automobile Union” (KAU), in August 2025, official dealers sold 17,977 new passenger and commercial vehicles in Kazakhstan, an increase of 0.9% compared to August last year. In total, 143,011 vehicles were sold in the first eight months, which is 20% more than in January–August last year.
Anar Makasheva, President of the Kazakhstan Automobile Union (KAU): “The new car market continues to show growth. Modern cars mean a higher level of road safety, reduced harmful emissions, and greater comfort for passengers and pedestrians. Both the state and society demand fleet renewal. The common goal is to improve the quality of life of Kazakhstan’s citizens.”
In August, Hyundai returned to first place (3,595 units; -17.6% compared to August last year). Chevrolet ranked second with 2,611 units (+8.7%). Kia took third with 2,100 vehicles sold (+27.6%). Changan (1,092 units; +66%) ranked fourth for the second time this year. Toyota was in fifth place for the first time in years, with 1,038 vehicles sold (+2%). They were followed by Jetour (928 units; +3.8%) and Geely (900 units; -0.1%). In eighth place in August was Haval, with 855 vehicles sold (-4.8%). Closing the top ten most sold brands in Kazakhstan were Chery (840 units; -31.7%) and Jac (815 units; -21.3%). Notably, market newcomers took 11th and 12th place: hybrid and electric cars BYD – 438 units, and Skoda – 323 units.
The top three most popular models in August remained mostly unchanged. The leaders were Chevrolet Cobalt (2,050 units), Hyundai Tucson (1,243 units), and Kia Sportage (1,009 units). In fourth place was one of the most affordable sedans in Kazakhstan, the Changan Alsvin – 644 units. Fifth was Hyundai Mufasa (633 units). Others on the list included: Hyundai Elantra (594 units), Jac S3 (538 units), Toyota Camry (481 units), Chevrolet Onix (459 units), and Haval M6 (446 units).
For the first eight months, Hyundai led the brand ranking (31,526 units; +17%), followed by Chevrolet with 19,965 vehicles sold (+56.6%). Kia, with 15,589 units sold (+3.2%), closed the top three. Jetour was the best-selling Chinese brand, with 9,491 vehicles delivered to customers in eight months (+62.9%). Chery ranked fifth – 9,293 units (+0.6%). Haval was sixth (7,685 units; +27.9%). The top ten brands were completed by Changan (7,001 units; +26.4%), Geely (6,672 units; +37.4%), Jac (6,653 units; -9.6%), and Toyota (6,540 units; +1.6%).
