AUTOMOBILE INDUSTRY OF KAZAKHSTAN: RESULTS OF 2025
- 171,144 vehicles of all types produced in Kazakhstan in 2025
According to the data of the “Kazakhstan Automobile Union” (KAU), in 2025 Kazakhstan produced 171,144 vehicles of all types (passenger cars, buses, and trucks). The total value of production exceeded 2.3 trillion tenge, compared to 145,290 units (+17.8%) and 1.9 trillion tenge in the previous year. This is the best result in the history of Kazakhstan’s automobile industry. By the end of 2025, the industry accounted for approximately 8% of total manufacturing output and held a dominant position in mechanical engineering with a 41.7% share*.
Investments in automobile production in 2025* amounted to over 113.6 billion tenge, thanks to the installation of new equipment at existing plants and new automobile component production facilities. New plants – Astana Motors Manufacturing Kazakhstan and Kia Qazaqstan – were launched in Almaty and Kostanay. This has a positive impact on employment in the industry: the number of employees at operating automobile enterprises increased to 11 153 people.
Anar MAKASHEVA, President of KAU: “2025 became a year of qualitative growth for Kazakhstan’s automobile industry. The expansion of production capacities and the launch of new enterprises directly contributed to job creation, today more than 11,000 specialists are employed in the sector. The automobile industry strengthened its position within the structure of mechanical engineering, accounting for over 41% of its output and around 8% of the entire manufacturing sector. We see the growing confidence among component manufacturers, new investments, and Kazakhstan automobiles taking an increasingly prominent place in the domestic market. Ambitious objectives remain ahead, focused on expanding localization and advancing manufacturing capabilities”.
In 2025, passenger car production traditionally accounted for the largest share and was comparable to 2024 figures, reaching 158,944 units (+19%). Commercial vehicle output amounted to 12,200 units (+8%).
By manufacturer, the Kostanay Allur plant (“SaryarkaAvtoProm”) produced 92,100 units (passenger cars and trucks combined) in 2025, compared to 90,515 units the previous year (+1.8%). Hyundai Trans Kazakhstan in Almaty produced 52,040 passenger cars (+14.6%). In the first four months of operations, the new Astana Motors Manufacturing Kazakhstan plant produced 15,180 vehicles. SemAZ in Semey produced 3,728 commercial vehicles (-5.3%). The Kia Qazaqstan plant produced 2,885 vehicles in the first three months of operation. In Saran, Karaganda Region, the QazTehna plant produced 2,665 commercial vehicles (+69.1%). In Kokshetau, “KAMAZ Engineering” produced 1,426 trucks (-6.4%), Almaty-based Hyundai Trans Almaty produced 754 commercial vehicles (-5.3%), Daewoo Bus Kazakhstan (Semey) produced 341 vehicles, and “Uralskagroremmash” produced 25 special-purpose vehicles.
