MORE THAN 84,000 NEW VEHICLES SOLD IN KAZAKHSTAN IN THE FIRST FIVE MONTHS

In May 2026, 18,393 new passenger and commercial vehicles were sold in Kazakhstan. This is 5.3% less than a year earlier. For January-May, the market remains close to last year’s level: over the five months, official dealers sold 84,002 vehicles, compared with 85,527 units in the same period of 2025 (-1.8%).
According to analysts of the “Kazakhstan Automobile Union” (KAU), the market stabilized somewhat in May compared with the more active month of April. Buyer interest is being fueled by a wide range of models across different segments, as well as special offers from dealers.
According to KAU President Anar MAKASHEVA, strong competition among brands gives Kazakhstan citizens more choice and motivates growth and service improvement.
“The growth of Chinese brands whose vehicle production has been established at Kazakhstan facilities is especially noticeable. This shows that buyers trust domestic enterprises”, noted Anar MAKASHEVA.
While emphasizing the importance of renewing the automotive market, KAU warns Kazakhstan citizens about the risks of buying vehicles from unverified sellers.
“In Kazakhstan, the number of reports to law enforcement agencies from citizens affected by fraudulent schemes of unofficial importers is growing. These importers bring into the country vehicles restored after serious road accidents, vehicles with criminal or other problems, and falsify documents. Such vehicles cannot be resold or exchanged for new ones. We urge Kazakhstan citizens, when purchasing vehicles from unofficial sellers, to thoroughly check the vehicles for legal title and status. Otherwise, there is a risk of being left without both the vehicle and the money. We recommend buying vehicles with a warranty from official dealers’ showrooms”, emphasized KAU President Anar MAKASHEVA.
Hyundai returned to first place in May with 2,899 vehicles sold (-27.4% compared with May 2025).
