NEW CAR SALES IN AUGUST INCREASED BY 6.3%

- August Top 5: Hyundai, Chevrolet, Changan, Kia and Chery
According to the Kazakhstan Automobile Union (KAU), in August 2026, official dealers sold 19,104 new passenger and commercial vehicles, which is 6.3% more than in August last year (17,964 units). In January–August, sales of new vehicles reached 146,372 units, exceeding the result for the same period in 2025 by 2.3% (143,096 units).
Anar MAKASHEVA, President of KAU: “Despite positive dynamics in sales and production in Kazakhstan, one of the key factors for renewing the country’s vehicle fleet remains the availability of financing for vehicle purchases. Rising car loan rates increase the financial burden on buyers and may restrain demand. Therefore, today it is especially important to develop affordable financial tools for purchasing new vehicles. Alongside traditional car loans, these include programs from manufacturers and dealers, trade-in, leasing and other solutions that help Kazakhstanis replace their old cars with new or newer ones.”
In August 2026, Hyundai dealers sold 3,604 vehicles, 1.3% more than a year earlier. Chevrolet ranked second with 2,764 vehicles sold (+5.9%). Changan took third place, with sales more than doubling – up 103.2% to 2,217 vehicles. Kia ranked fourth with 1,556 vehicles sold (-25.9%).
