KAZAKHSTAN’S AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY: RECORD PRODUCTION GROWTH OF 37%

According to the Bureau of National Statistics of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in January 2026 Kazakhstan produced 13,228 units of vehicles and equipment with a total value of 170.3 billion tenge. Output increased by 37.3% compared with January 2025. In the reporting month, manufacturers produced 12,313 passenger cars, 395 trucks, 244 buses, 263 trailers and semi-trailers, as well as 13 units of special-purpose and specialized equipment.
Anar MAKASHEVA, President of the Kazakhstan Automobile Union (KAU): “The start of 2026 confirms the steady momentum in the development of Kazakhstan’s automotive industry. This is the result of the sector’s systematic work and comprehensive support from government authorities. The favorable investment climate created in the country has become a solid foundation for the launch and sustainable growth of new manufacturing enterprises. Our key priority is to further deepen technological operations and develop domestic production of automotive components. The implementation of new projects and the expansion of the automotive component base in various regions of the country will stimulate related industries and strengthen Kazakhstan’s industrial potential in the long term”.
According to the Kazakhstan Automobile Union (KAU), in January 2026 the largest production volume was delivered by the Almaty-based plant Astana Motors Manufacturing Kazakhstan, which produced 4,750 vehicles of the Haval, Chery, and Changan brands. Hyundai Trans Kazakhstan manufactured 3,358 vehicles. The Kostanay-based plant Allur (SaryarkaAvtoProm) produced 3,132 vehicles, while the new Kia Qazaqstan plant produced 1,111 vehicles.
The five most popular brands by January 2026 results were: Hyundai (3,349 units), Chevrolet (1,848 units), Haval (1,838 units), Chery (1,520 units), and Changan (1,280 units). By model, the highest production volumes were: Chevrolet Cobalt (1,789 units), Hyundai Tucson (1,254 units), Hyundai Santa Fe (796 units), Changan CS55 Plus (783 units), and Haval M6 (677 units).
